FAQ

Smart glasses questions, answered straight.

Answers to the questions we hear most about our four open-ear smart glasses: translation, cameras, lenses, fit, shipping and returns. Prices are in CAD, from $99 to $169.

Choosing a pair

Which smart glasses should I buy?

Pick the feature you will use every day, then match the model.

For translation and a sport fit, the AImb G5 ($139 CAD) translates 40+ languages and records with an 8MP camera. For lenses that adjust to light, the AImb G3 ($139 CAD) has photochromic UV400 lenses, an 8MP anti-shake camera and real-time translation in a 49g frame. For long days of filming, the QS5 ($169 CAD) has our sharpest camera (12MP) and largest battery (500 mAh). For calls and music in the lightest frame, the Electrochromic model ($99 CAD) weighs 38g. You can compare all four on the home page.

What do all four models have in common?

All four use open-ear air conduction audio, Bluetooth calls and music, and a touch panel plus physical buttons.

Every pair works with Android and iOS, ships free to Canada and the United States, and comes with a 30-day return window. Prices run from $99 to $169 CAD. Features beyond that vary by model, and each product page lists exactly what that pair does.

Are smart glasses a good gift?

They make a strong gift when the model matches how the person spends their day.

A traveler gets the most from the AImb G5 or AImb G3 for translation. A runner or cyclist fits the AImb G5. A creator fits the QS5. Someone who wants audio and calls without a camera fits the Electrochromic model. Delivery takes 7 to 12 business days, so order at least two and a half weeks before the date.

Do your smart glasses work with iPhone and Android?

Yes. All four models pair over Bluetooth with both iPhone (iOS) and Android phones.

Wireless range is 5 to 10 metres, depending on the model.

Do I need to download an app?

The Electrochromic model needs no app: it pairs like a Bluetooth headset, with no account to create.

The camera models use a companion app on your phone, for example to move footage into your album and, on the AImb G5 and AImb G3, to support translation.

Travel & translation

Which smart glasses translate languages in real time?

Two of our four models translate in real time: the AImb G5 and the AImb G3.

The AImb G5 supports 40+ languages. The AImb G3 adds text and object recognition to its translation. On both, the translation plays through open-ear speakers, so you hear the other person and the translation together. Accuracy varies with the language pair, the accent and your connection.

How many languages can the glasses translate?

The AImb G5 supports 40+ languages, the widest coverage we list.

The AImb G3 offers real-time translation; the manufacturer does not publish a language count for it, and we only list numbers we can confirm. If a specific language matters to you, ask us before you order.

Do translation glasses need a phone or internet connection?

Plan on a phone connection for translation.

On the AImb G5, audio playback and POV capture run on the frame itself, while translation uses a phone connection for the broadest language support. Abroad, a local SIM or eSIM data plan keeps translation available.

What are the best smart glasses for travel?

It depends on what your trip needs most: translation, filming or light packing.

For conversations in another language, the AImb G5 (40+ languages) or the AImb G3, whose photochromic lenses handle the walk from a terminal into the sun. For a full day of filming, the QS5 carries a 500 mAh battery. For the lightest carry-on, the Electrochromic model weighs 38g. Every model keeps your ears open, so gate announcements still reach you. Our model comparison guide goes deeper.

Camera & creators

Which smart glasses have a camera?

Three of our four models have a POV camera.

The QS5 records 12MP stills and HD video to 8GB. The AImb G5 records 8MP stills and 1200p video to 16GB. The AImb G3 records 8MP stills and 1200p anti-shake video to 16GB. The Electrochromic model has no camera, which makes it the pair to wear into a meeting or a gym.

Which smart glasses are best for content creators?

The QS5 ($169 CAD) is built for creators: a 12MP camera and a 500 mAh battery, roughly 70% more capacity than our 290 mAh frames.

If smoother handheld-style video matters more than resolution, the AImb G3 records anti-shake 1200p video. Both capture with one tap, so your hands stay free.

How do I get QS5 footage onto my phone?

Use the USB-C connection: it is the fastest route.

Transferring through the companion app works, but it is slow, so start it before you need the files. The QS5 stores up to 8GB on the frame.

Outdoor & sport

Which smart glasses work for running and cycling?

The AImb G5 ($139 CAD) is our sport frame.

Silicone nose grips (spares in the box) and a lens with more curve than our other three frames hold the fit through a run or a ride. Open-ear audio keeps traffic audible, the UV400 lenses protect your eyes, and glove-friendly buttons work without your phone. At 54g, it also records your route with an 8MP camera. Check local rules on audio while cycling.

Can I hear traffic while wearing open-ear smart glasses?

Yes. Open-ear audio plays from a small speaker set just outside the ear, so your ear canal stays uncovered.

You hear your music or your call and your surroundings at the same time: traffic, sirens, other riders, the person next to you. Every one of our four models works this way.

Which smart glasses have photochromic lenses?

The AImb G3 ($139 CAD) has photochromic lenses that darken on their own as UV light increases.

They are clear indoors, tinted outdoors and UV400 protected at every stage. Three spare lenses ship in the box. The same 49g frame carries an 8MP anti-shake camera and real-time AI translation.

What is the difference between photochromic and electrochromic lenses?

Photochromic lenses react to sunlight on their own. Electrochromic lenses change when you tell them to.

The AImb G3 uses photochromic lenses: they darken automatically with UV. The Electrochromic model ($99 CAD) lets you press and hold above the nose pads for five seconds to switch between a deep tint and a light tint of the same colour. That control helps indoors, where a photochromic lens is still dark when you walk in from the street.

Audio, battery & specs

Are your smart glasses bone conduction?

No. All four models use open-ear air conduction audio.

A small directional speaker sits just outside each ear and plays sound through the air. Nothing touches or seals the ear canal, so you stay aware of the room or the road.

What is the difference between open-ear and bone-conduction audio?

Both leave your ears open. They differ in how the sound reaches you.

Bone conduction sends vibrations through the cheekbones to the inner ear. Open-ear air conduction, which all our models use, plays sound from a speaker set just outside the ear. In both cases, open-air sound does not deliver the isolated bass of sealed earbuds; what you gain is awareness and all-day comfort.

How much do the smart glasses weigh?

Our four frames weigh between 38g and 57g.

The Electrochromic model is 38g, the AImb G3 49g, the AImb G5 54g and the QS5 57g. The camera models carry the extra grams.

How long does the battery last?

Battery capacity runs from 100 mAh to 500 mAh, and runtime depends on how much you use audio and the camera.

The QS5 has the largest battery at 500 mAh. The AImb G5 and AImb G3 carry 290 mAh, rated for daily use. The Electrochromic model carries 100 mAh, sized for sessions rather than all-day playback.

Can I take phone calls with the glasses?

Yes. All four models handle Bluetooth hands-free calls and music.

The Electrochromic model adds active noise reduction to keep your voice clear, and you answer or end calls from the frame.
